Available from our photograph collection are pictures from Peabody a century ago, the Century Chest opened in 2002, the Helen Southwick Valentine Collection, a set of images of Peabody’s famous leather work factories, a collection of photographs of George Peabody for whom the town is named and newspaper images of his funeral in Peabody. From our records collection are the Birth, Marriage and Death Records from 1855 - 1880. The newest exhibit includes samples of letters sent to the South Danvers Ladies Soldiers’ Aid Society during the Civil War. This Society was the third Soldiers’ Aid Society in the Union and went onto raise thousands of dollars in cash and supplies for the wounded.
